How do you create energy on stage?
By David Knutsson · 3 min read
Energy is contagious. But to give it away, you need to walk on stage with it — and know how to land it in the room.
Energy starts in the wings
Breath, posture and what you did the ten minutes before walking on matter more than the content itself. I always work the voice and the body before the first line — otherwise the audience hears it.
Meet the audience — then lift them one notch
Starting at full throttle in front of a quiet room kills it. Meet the energy where it is, acknowledge it, then raise it step by step. That's how the audience actually follows you.
Use the whole stage — not just the mic
Movement, eye contact and pauses build presence. And presence is the only thing the audience can really feel from their seat.
